Artist Statement

Stellium is a ceramic series exploring the next evolutionary step of the human species.

Emerging from the accumulated weight of millennia of human experience, every emotion felt, every lesson lived, Homo Spiritus is the species that comes after us. Colloquially known as Raves, these beings carry the cosmos on their skin and wear their inner world openly, with no separation between what they feel and what they are.

Each of the five figures in Stellium is a distinct individual of the same species, unified by a shared origin and endlessly varied in expression. Together they form a Penta.

To our present eyes, they shimmer with something we can only call cosmic. They are us, fully integrated, emotionally alive, and at home in the universe in a way we are only beginning to imagine.

The Penta

Each Rave is a distinct individual, yet they share the same origin, the same essential nature. Different expressions of the same soul, shaped by millennia of accumulated human experience.

Together, the five form a Penta, a complete whole. What appears as five is, at its root, one. And that one contains all five. The boundary between individual and collective dissolves, just as it does in Homo Spiritus themselves.

The Penta is more than a grouping. Proximity is what gives the five their power. Apart, each Rave exists in a kind of stillness, waiting. It is only in nearness to one another that something shifts. The aura awakens. The organism comes alive.
